Massimo Bianchini

Designer, PhD in design. Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Design, Milan, Italy.

He is co-founder and lab manager of Polifactory (www.polifactory.polimi.it), maker space/fab lab of Politecnico di Milano, a multidisciplinary research lab that explores the relationship between design and the transformation of production models. He is graduated from Fab Academy in 2015. Since 2011, starting from his doctoral research, he investigates the new scenarios of independent innovation – designers that become micro and self-producers – design for distributed (micro)production and new urban manufacturing. From 2013 to 2015 he has taken part to CTC – Close to Customer, an EU Factories of the Future demo project aimed to design a mini-factory to manufacturing customized furniture within shopping malls. From 2014 co-develops pilot projects with public bodies and institutions exploring the creation of innovation ecosystems based on openP2P collaboration between designers, makers/maker spaces and SMEs/Craftsmen (www.nextdesigninnovation.it, www.fabric-action.org).
